Transport Thoughts

I am taking a driving school course so I can be prepared to drive when my family moves out to Los Angeles. Living in New York driving is not a necessity and because of it I have never learned to drive even though I am already 19 years old. Here we take a cab or the subway to anywhere we want to go. We were told that in Los Angeles it is imperative to have a vehicle to get around in; this makes me a bit nervous. I know L.A. drivers have a reputation of being crazy and of being maniacs on the road. There are also a lot of cases of road rage, especially in the area where we are moving to. So I have to find a driving school that can help me to learn to drive in all that traffic, amongst all those crazy folks and still make it home every night.

I took a look at the online test that they have on the DMV website. I can truly say I had no idea what even half of the answers to those questions were. If I pass this test it is going to be a true miracle that should be recorded in the churchrecords in the Vatican. Those same records should include the name of the driving school that taught me for they will be true miracle workers. Sorry if I am being offensive it's justthat I am so nervous. The though of getting in that traffic makes me want to puke and pass out all at once.

My mom says to find a driving schoolthat can teach me defensive driving skills that will help me maneuver those roads better, she says I have nothing to worry about, that millions of people drive those same roads every day and live to tell about it. So I may be acting a bit neurotic but moving from one extreme of the U.S. to another is shocking on one's system and mine still has not gotten used to the idea. Maybe once we are actually there I will see things in a different perspective. Maybe I will find that L.A. drivers don't have actual horns and pointed tails, maybe I will find that they are just like me, just a lot more tanned and in shape. Well, as they say, whatever will be will be, wish me luck because Los Angeles, here I come!
